The ARC New Zealand Programme has been developed by two of the country’s leading English language schools.

You can take the ARC Programme at two different centres in New Zealand: Auckland English Academy and Rotorua English Language Academy.

Both ARC New Zealand job-finding centres offer the ARC Programme to help you to find a job in New Zealand and to be properly prepared for that job. They will of course also make sure that your English is good enough for you to do the job you want.

How the ARC Programme works

Preparing for your ARC programme:

1. If you do not have a job offer already, we ask you to tell us about your qualifications and experience. We then give you an honest and realistic idea of your chances of finding work in New Zealand.
2. We discuss with you the length of course you may need and the ARC centre which is most suitable for you. We may ask you to do at least part of the Language Assessment at this point.
3. We ask you to complete our enrolment form and send it to us by e-mail, fax or post.
4. We tell you what you need to bring with you (documents etc.). We can also give you advice on applying for a visa.

After you arrive in New Zealand:

1. We meet you at the airport (or arrange for your transport to our centre).
2. When you come to the ARC centre on your first day, we ask you to complete your ARC Language Assessment. We will then talk to you further about your Programme.
3. Your Programme begins!

Other points:

If your English is not very good, we may suggest that you take a course which is longer than 12 weeks.
We cannot give you a 100% guarantee of work, because it is the New Zealand employers who decide on the people they wish to employ, not ARC New Zealand. However, we will only suggest that you enrol in this Programme if we believe that your chances are good.

The importance of good English.

“If you’re coming to New Zealand for a working holiday, you’ve chosen well. There’s confidence and optimism in the economy. There’s growth in all our regions, businesses are booming, and there is a high employment rate – the highest for years. So it’s a great time to come.

We have shortages in some industries – like health, information and communications technology, and trades such as building. If you have skills in one of these industries you'll be able to look for skilled work.

But remember that you do need a good standard of English for most skilled jobs. English language ability is often the biggest barrier for people trying to find employment in New Zealand.
